  • Who can I approach if I wish to find out more about further studies at SD'H?

  • Are the programmes conducted by SD'H registered with the Council for Private Education (CPE) Singapore?
    All programmes conducted by SD'H are registered with the CPE of Singapore. [back to top]
  • Will I be able to gain admission into the local or foreign universities after completing my Diploma or Advanced Diploma with SD'H?
    Yes. You may seek admission to local or foreign universities based on your Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications. However, it is subject to individual university admission criterion. [back to top]
  • What is the difference between a classroom-based and distance learning programme?
    Classroom-based: Students must attend lectures and tutorials as scheduled. Contact with the lecturers are on a more frequent and regular basis.

    Distance learning: Students are in contact with their tutors through intensive bloc sessions over a limited period of time. In a distance learning mode, students are required to read their course materials in their own time. During tutorial sessions, students can seek clarification from their tutors.

  • Is there a minimum attendance requirement?
    Yes. You need to fulfill 90% attendance as a full-time student and 75% attendance as a part-time student. For international students, 90% attendance is compulsory to meet ICA requirements.
    If the student wish to take leaves, he/she must apply leaves and it is subject to approval by the School Management. All documentary proof must be submitted to SD'H with a leave of absence form (subject to the School's approval). [back to top]
  • Do you offer any activities outside of the curriculum?
    Yes! We take pride in our out-of-the-classroom experiential learning programme for our students. The School organises co-curricular activities, and other social and cultural programmes to ensure the holistic development of our students. [back to top]
  • What financial aid does SD'H provide?
    SD'H offers several assistance schemes such as bursaries for students in need of financial aid. Study loans are also available for selected programmes.  [back to top]
  • How can I make my course fee payment?
    All fees are payable by cash, cheque, NETS, credit card or telegraphic transfer. Cheques must be crossed and made payable to "School D'Hospitality Pte Ltd". [back to top]
  • How much money should I set aside for my daily and monthly expenses in Singapore?
    We estimate that you will require S$10,000 to S$12,500 per annum to cover your living expenses in each year of study. You can use the following budget as a guide for a single student living in shared accommodation. [back to top]
    Please note that the expenses quoted are subject to inflation and may vary depending on market conditions. The amount spent also depends on your personal requirements, budget and location.

  • Am I allowed to work part-time in Singapore?
    You are strictly not allowed to engage in any form of employment, whether paid or unpaid, or in any business, profession or occupation in Singapore during the validity of your Student's Pass unless you have the consent in writing of the Controller of Immigration. Violators will be prosecuted by law. [back to top]
  • What kind of clothing should I bring along?
    Singapore's weather is generally warm and humid all year round. Lightweight clothing will generally be sufficient with perhaps a light jacket or sweater for use during lessons in air-conditioned rooms. [back to top]
  • Is there any orientation for new students?
    Yes, there will be an orientation programme planned for new students at the start of each intake. During orientation,you will be briefed about the School’s vision, mission and core values, and important information such as School’s policies and procedures, student supports services, academic and assessments, dispute resolution policy and procedures, code of conduct etc. [back to top]
  • What course materials should I purchase and when?
    Do not rush into buying textbooks. You will be given course materials and a list of textbooks for required reading. We advise that you consult the academic staff on the required purchases. [back to top]
  • How do I get around the campus and where is SD'H located?
    School D'Hospitality is located next toTanjong Pagar MRT Station and easily accessible by public buses. Our address is:

  • Will there be any remedial classes if they fall on public holidays?
    Public holidays are taken into account in the planning of course/programme schedules and students can check these schedules. [back to top]
  • Can I take leave from school to go back to my homecountry?
    You are not allowed to take home leave during an on-going term. You must obtain approval from the School Management before going on home leave. However, official home leave may be granted on compassionate grounds. You must apply for official home leave before getting your air tickets. If you fail to inform and obtain the approval of the School Management, you will be considered as being absent without official leave.
  • If you are absent for more than 7 consecutive days, you will be required to withdraw from the course.
  • To apply for home leave, please follow these procedures:
  • Complete the "Student Request Form" at the Student Services Department. The Student Services Department will interview you on your reasons for the application. [back to top]
  • If your home leave is approved, you are required to submit a copy of your air-ticket to the Student Services Department for filing.
  • Can I switch from a part-time programme to a full-time and vice-versa in the middle of the school term?
    For local students, your request will be considered on a case-by-case basis subject to availability of classes and resources.
    International students can only enroll in full-time programmes. [back to top]
  • How do I know if my application has been successfully received or submitted?
    You will receive an interim letter from your agent or us by email or fax informing you that your application has been received and processed. [back to top]
  • Can I request for deferment of my programme? Would the school be able to reserve the place for me?
    Such arrangements will only be considered on a case-by-case basis. [back to top]
